From the office of the Premier - B.C. Government
VANCOUVER – The Premier announced $2 million
in funding for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation BC/Yukon on
March 30, 2007. The money will help the Foundation continue to raise
awareness for the need for women to have regular mammograms. Campbell
made the announcement at the '2020: The Future Without Breast Cancer'
rally in Vancouver.
“While B.C. women have the lowest mortality and incidence
rate for breast cancer in Canada, breast cancer continues to be a
significant health issue,” said Campbell. “It’s
so important for every British Columbian woman between the ages of
40 and 69 to understand that having a regular mammogram can help
save lives because it detects tumours early and means there are more
treatment options and a better chance for a cure. This funding will
help the Foundation continue to raise awareness for the need for
women to have regular mammograms.”
